Loved the atmosphere here, old school and classic. We enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and the lamb chops. Personally I wouldn’t recommend the steak here: medium quality of the meat and not so great in terms of seasoning and flavor.
It's been too long since I have been here & it definitely lived up to my fond memories! The service is so impeccable and the food is divine. Having a great meal in this historic facility is a real pleasure.
Simply Amazing! Thank you Erie Cafe for a wonderful night! The staff, managers and owners made our large group feel like VIPs with our own room, private bar, amazing food… look at that prime rib! Oh and they also brought out trays of desserts. It was a true Chicago experience! I cannot say enough. Thank you thank you!
Our son recently bought a place in River North so we are enjoying checking out all the places around him. For his birthday, last night, I made reservations here. Not disappointed at all! The service we received from Oscar and Martin was fantastic..actually the entire staff was very attentive. The old world, speakeasy atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was topnotch! The table had the grilled calamari, steaks, pasta, sides and cocktails. All was delicious. We can't wait to return and even sit outside in the summer right along the banks of the river. Thank you for a truly great evening.
Great hidden gem in Chicago. Went for dinner and the food was really good, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere you can't beat especially if you are sitting on the patio. The baked calms and the broiled mushrooms were the highlights of the meal. Homemade Chicken soup is also a strong recommendation if it's on the menu.
The T-Bone steak was cooked perfectly but to other reviews lacked any basic seasoning. The Shrimp DeJonghe was on point. The carrot cake and key lime pie are excellent dessert options.
Authentic Chicago spot. Easy to walk in and get a table any night of the week w/o a reservation, which is a rarity in today's dining scene. Polite and efficient service, well made and classic drinks, enjoyable food. Big fan of their shrimp cocktail and clam linguine. Fun bar as well.
I came in on a Monday at exactly 11am, opening time, for their lunch. Definitely knew this place was special immediately upon entering. There was a feeling of elegance and age with the lightning and cedar ceilings along with the exposed brick wall. Service was perfect as expected, and my shaved prime rib sandwich ($19.00, website needs to be updated) was juicy and full of that slow roasted rib roast flavor. The sandwich is paired with fries and a delicate mustard/mayo to balance out the beef. Definitely recommended for celebrations and family gatherings- there is plenty of parking along Montgomery park.
Fantastic food. Fantastic atmosphere. Great service. A real class act in a jam in Chicago. I just discovered this location and found the food. Amazing. Fair prices and easy. Parking was another great bonus. I’ll be back for sure. I had the salmon which was delicious and the seafood soup. I came back for lunch and had the tuna club, which was also excellent. Pretty sure everything on the menu will be good as I dine with a couple of other of my friends, who loved it as well.
